From Fowey to Belle-Île. The Season Gains Momentum
The 2025 season is well and truly underway, and Tall Ship Morgenster has been stretching her canvas and her crew in the best way possible. We’ve sailed with purpose and elegance from Fowey to A Coruña, then turned northeast again, charting a course for the heart of southern Brittany. After a classic crossing of the Bay of Biscay, we’ve now dropped anchor beside the stunning isle of Belle-Île-en-Mer.

The sea has been generous. Fair winds carried us steadily along the Atlantic coast, with just enough swell to remind us we’re at sea, but not enough to send our coffee flying.
The crew kept busy aloft, bracing sails and adjusting sheets while enjoying sweeping views like the one captured in our photo “Working Aloft” classic Morgenster magic.
Anchored in Time for a Breton Spectacle
We’re here just in time for La Semaine du Golfe du Morbihan, one of Europe’s most picturesque maritime festivals. This week-long event brings together hundreds of traditional boats, classic yachts, and of course, tall ships like the Morgenster. For maritime lovers, it’s a floating dreamscape and the Morgenster will be right at the heart of it.
While anchored near Belle-Île, our crew is already preparing for the spectacle: polishing the rails, checking rig tension, and making sure the sails billow just right for our parade entries. It’s not just about showing off, it’s about sharing the joy of traditional sailing and inviting people aboard to imagine what it’s like to hoist a sail, climb a mast, or stand a midnight watch under the stars.
Onward to Brest The Journey Continues
After the Morbihan festivities, Morgenster will set sail again, this time bound for Brest. Another major port with a rich maritime history and a welcome for ships like ours. Every harbor adds new stories, new friends, and new crew who step aboard for a leg of the journey or a full-blown sailing adventure.
