Morgenster Sets Sail to Den Helder – A New Season Awaits!
After months of sunny sailing in the Cape Verde Islands, the Tall Ship Morgenster does another Atlantic crossing steering her bow homeward. We’ve just hoisted anchor in the Azores, setting course for Den Helder, where our beloved brig will be prepared for her next season of adventure.
We’ll admit, we left a few days behind schedule, waiting for favorable winds is all part of sailing life, after all. But with the breeze now in our sails and the crew in high spirits, the final leg of the Morgenster Atlantic crossing has begun.
A Smooth Sail Home… Followed by Some Elbow Grease
Crossing the North Atlantic in early spring is always a challenge, but one we welcome. After the warmth of Cape Verde and the stunning stillness of the Azores, it’s time for a bit of bracing Dutch sea air. With every nautical mile, the crew shifts from tropical rhythms to preparation mode. Because once we arrive in Den Helder, we hit the ground running.
From hull to halyard, Morgenster is ready for her annual maintenance period. After such a long voyage, it’s time for some TLC: sanding, painting, rig checks, mechanical checks, you name it. It will be hard days of work to get her ready for the upcominng season, but we love to give her a treat.
All Hands On Deck for an Epic Season Ahead
We have big plans for the months ahead. The 2025 sailing season kicks off in mid-May, and it’s shaping up to be unforgettable. From thrilling voyages across Europe to day sails with new ‘sailors-in-the-making’, the Morgenster will be busy from bowsprit to stern.
And of course, one of the absolute highlights will be SAIL Amsterdam 2025. A legendary maritime festival that only comes around once every five years. Thousands of ships, hundreds of thousands of visitors, and one unforgettable city buzzing with tall ships and tradition. You won’t want to miss it.
