Morgenster in Den Helder – Maintenance Almost Finished

Final Touches Aboard the Morgenster – Ready to Set Sail Again!

The scent of fresh paint is still in the air, the last bolts are being tightened, and the deck is almost back to full gleaming form. Morgenster is nearly ready to sail again! After several productive weeks of maintenance in our home port Den Helder, we’re thrilled to report that the finish line is in sight. If all goes according to plan (and the wind agrees), we’ll be casting off by the end of next week for the first voyage of the 2025 sailing season.

Booms Back Aboard – the Eco Way

One of the most visually striking jobs was the hoisting of the steel booms back onto the mast A big lift in more ways than one. This task was carried out by a fully electric, zero-emission crane, part of our ongoing commitment to low-impact maintenance. If you missed it, you can see the operation for yourself in this short YouTube video: Watch the booms go up. It’s always a satisfying sight to see heavy steel gliding gently back into position against the backdrop of traditional rigging.

Now that the booms are secured and the rigging is checked and double-checked, we’re almost ready to hoist sail once more. With every bolt tightened and line inspected, the ship’s character returns stronger than ever. She’s looking sharp, wouldn’t you agree?

Brushes Down, Tools Packed – No Volunteers Needed

A huge thank-you to everyone who joined us for this year’s maintenance period. Whether you helped paint, polish, or pass the coffee, your time made a difference. As you can see in the photos, the fresh white rails, restored rig, and clean decks are all the result of steady teamwork.

We’re now officially wrapping up this phase, so no more volunteers are needed. But don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to join the crew underway this summer. The season ahead is full of unique voyages and tall ship festivals, and of course, SAIL Amsterdam 2025 is on the horizon as one of the main events.

Up Next: Sea Breezes and New Horizons

With just a few finishing touches left, coiling lines, stowing gear, and giving the galley a final shine, we’re preparing to set sail again by next week. The crew is itching to trade dock lines for sea legs, and our beautiful Tall Ship Morgenster is once again ready to do what she does best: sail with spirit, style, and tradition.

So whether you’ve sailed with us before or you’re just starting your adventure, now is the perfect time to book your next trip. Join us this summer for unforgettable voyages along the coasts and across the open sea.
