Morgenster Sets Sail for Brazil: Next Stop, Belém!
The Tall Ship Morgenster is once again on the move! After completing essential maintenance and preparing for the next grand voyage, we’ve hoisted our sails and are heading for Belém, Brazil, where we’ll proudly represent sustainable sailing during the upcoming COP Climate Convention. This transatlantic journey will be a spectacular mix of adventure, tradition, and purpose. An experience of a lifetime for our crew and guests.
A Route Carved in History and Adventure
The journey from Den Helder to Belém is not just a route, it’s a transformation. We’ll be stopping in Cascais (Portugal), Tenerife (Canary Islands), and Mindelo (Cape Verde) before we make the iconic crossing of the equator into the southern hemisphere.
Each port of call brings unique culture, breathtaking scenery, and the camaraderie of international waters. But make no mistake, this isn’t a cruise. It’s adventure sailing in its truest form.
From Dutch Waters to Tropical Horizons
Leaving the familiar coastline of the Netherlands behind, the Morgenster dives into deeper, bluer waters. The first part of the voyage brings us to Cascais, a coastal gem near Lisbon, known for its charming streets and Atlantic breezes.
From there, we catch the northeast trade winds to Tenerife, where volcanic landscapes meet old-world Spanish architecture. Next up is Mindelo in Cape Verde, a lively cultural hub with Creole flair and a perfect launchpad for the Atlantic crossing.
Sailing Across the Equator: A Bucket List Moment
Crossing the equator is more than a geographic milestone. It’s a deeply felt moment that sailors through the ages have honored. It comes with its own traditions and rituals. From “pollywog” to “shellback,” every new sailor aboard will earn their stripes and their Neptune initiation.
This leg will challenge the crew and bring everyone closer to the heart of the sea. Whether you’re on board or following our updates online, you’re part of this timeless tradition.
Sailing With Purpose: COP Convention in Belém
This year, Belém will host the COP Climate Convention, and the Morgenster is sailing there with a mission: to showcase the power of wind over engine, of cooperation over consumption. On board, we’ll host a select group of guests engaged in environmental leadership, sustainable innovation, and maritime heritage.
The Morgenster becomes more than a ship, it becomes a symbol of how tradition and innovation can sail side by side into a greener future.
