From Hanse Sail to the Wadden Sea. Morgenster Heads Home
After several lively days in Rostock, Tall Ship Morgenster has said goodbye to Hanse Sail 2026 and is once again under way. The annual gathering brought traditional sailing ships, crews and thousands of maritime enthusiasts together on the Baltic coast. For Morgenster, a regular and much loved participant, it once again felt like meeting old friends.
Four Days of Hanse Sail Atmosphere
Hanse Sail is always about much more than simply seeing beautiful ships. It is about experiencing them. During the event, Morgenster welcomed guests aboard and headed out onto the water for sailing trips, giving visitors the opportunity to experience a traditional square-rigged ship from the inside.

The atmosphere continued below decks. While the crew handled the ship, the galley team was busy preparing food for everyone on board. From trays of fresh desserts to meals served after a day on the water, life aboard continued at its familiar rhythm.
And then there were those moments that cannot really be planned: returning across the water as the sun disappeared below the horizon, the ship silhouetted against the evening sky and another memorable Hanse Sail day coming to an end.
It is exactly these moments that make sailing aboard Morgenster different from simply watching a tall ship from the shore.

Setting Course for Enkhuizen
With Hanse Sail behind us, Morgenster is now sailing west toward Enkhuizen in the Netherlands. However, as is often the case aboard a traditional sailing ship, the voyage itself is every bit as important as the destination.
On the way, Morgenster plans to visit Helgoland, the distinctive German island in the North Sea. From there, the voyage continues toward the Dutch coast and into one of Europe’s most remarkable maritime landscapes.
Sailing Through the Wadden Sea
Before reaching Enkhuizen, Morgenster will cross the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s great tidal ecosystems.
For a traditional sailing vessel, it is a fitting route home. Tides, channels, sandbanks, wind and current have shaped navigation here for centuries. Sailing through this landscape brings Morgenster back into waters where seamanship still means working with nature rather than simply trying to overcome it.
Beyond the Wadden Sea lies Enkhuizen, where Morgenster is expected to arrive next week.
But arriving in Enkhuizen does not mean the adventures are over. New voyages are waiting, new coastlines lie ahead and there is always room for another pair of hands on deck.
