The Brigs Are Back in Town
After weeks of sanding, painting, tightening, checking, polishing, and hoisting steel booms with a zero-emission crane (yes, we’re still proud of that), Tall Ship Morgenster is back where she belongs: at sea.
Last week, we cast off from Den Helder, sails full of promise and rigging humming like a contented fiddle. Destination? Fowey, on the rugged coast of Cornwall, where the first guests of the 2025 sailing season will come aboard. The anticipation is high, and so are the spirits onboard.
A Gentle Start, Wind in the Right Direction
The sailing gods gave us a generous wind direction from the north and northeast, a gift for any square-rigger. The only catch? We might’ve placed a polite request for a little more wind. But no complaints: with the sails stretched and Morgenster steady on her course, it was the perfect chance to ease back into the rhythm of sea life.
The watch system is ticking like clockwork, the deck shines with fresh paint, and the sunset views off the stern, well, they’ve already earned a few “wow”s and camera clicks. (Just look at the glow in the photo we took during that dreamy first evening (no filter needed.)
Fowey and Beyond, The Season Is Just Beginning
As we approach Fowey, excitement is building. This first crossing isn’t just a repositioning trip, it’s a symbolic launch of a full summer of adventure, friendship, and tall ship magic. And from here on, it only gets better.
Curious where we’ll sail next? From island hopping to ocean passages and legendary events like SAIL Amsterdam 2025, you can check out the full voyage calendar at www.zeilbrik.org/adventure-schedule.
