La Rochelle is an impressive town to start a sailing voyage. The harbor is protected by two huge towers. There are two near by islands, Ile de Re and Ile d’ Oleron, which we may visit if weather permits. The voyage leads us south along the coast to the Cordouan, the most beautiful lighthouse in the world, where we enter the Gironde river
